The wolfman or werewolf (meaning man-wolf) has been around in folklore for ages. Also called Lycanthrope, a werewolf is a shapeshifting person who transforms into a wolflike creature either from magic, being placed under a curse or from an innocent person being bitten by a werewolf.

Many adaptations have been made to the legend of this evil creature, such as transforming when the moon is full, or being killed only with a silver bullet. In modern movies such as the Dog Soldiers, American Werewolf in London, and Underworld, werewolfs are depicted as larger than normal and more powerful wolves. Sometimes werewolves are portrayed as biomorphs, which means that even though they have transformed into a werewolf, they still are able to maintain their human intelligence. Although people do not believe in werewolfs nowadays like they did in the past, there is a medical condition known as clinical lychanthropy where the person believe that he has the powers to turn into a werewolf.
